Women Make a Difference

The experience of women around the world is different based on their immediate circumstances and challenges faced daily. Essentially, however, women are the same no matter what language they speak, color of skin, or texture of hair. They are united by their roles as mothers, wives, sisters, aunts and daughters.

It’s simply hard to imagine a world without women. A world without women is lifeless to tell you the truth. Despite histories inconsequential portrayal of women their contribution is infinite.  Growing up, my grandmother always reminded my sisters and me that, “A woman’s worth is immeasurable.” My grandmother was not only a mother to her own children but also gave her time and energy to her grand’s, great-grand’s, and all those in her community that lacked inspiration.

As a young single mother, Maya Angelou supported her son by working as a waitress and cook, a familiar career choice made by many women to care for their children independently. When Maya’s passion for music and poetry took flight, it carried her to the highest places of achievement. Maya has inspired millions to live beyond the challenges faced, “”See, you don’t have to think about doing the right thing. If you’re for the right thing, then you do it without thinking.”

Mary Kay Ash was American Business Woman that founded her company Mary Kay Cosmetics on the principal of making women not only feel important but also become successful entrepreneurs. She is quoted for saying, “Pretend that every single person you meet has a sign around his or her neck that says, “Make me feel important.” Not only will you succeed in sales, you will succeed in life.”  Mary Kay Ash understood women well when she stated, “So many women just don’t know how great they really are. They come to us all vogue[d] outside and vague on the inside.”  Women also have to understand as well how to value each other.

Still today, in many countries around the world women are devalued, living below humane standards, and not appreciated in the workplace.  It is shameful when we do not acknowledge and honor women by respecting them to see them on the grandeur scale as equal contributors to social growth and development we debase our own importance.

Today women lead some of the world’s most successful corporations and agencies that support our global society.  Historically, women have been at the headship of some of the most important influential decisions made in the history of human existence. Women need to be uplifted in all societies; their opinions and ideas really do matter.  Let’s not only honor and remember their contribution during Women’s History Month, but let us also take notice of the important women in your life every day.
