Sonia Sanchez
Sonia Sanchez at QBR Book Awards 2013

Sonia Sanchez was there to present the award for Poetry, and performed a piece for the audience as well.  Giving needed words of encouragement to the audience after such a rough week for Black America, Sanchez drew people to their feet in applause. This event was a good start to what would be an interesting weekend in Harlem.
