Self-Driving Car Kills Pedestrian

Good evening, folks. It was only a matter of time before it happened. In a development that only the most dense could not see coming, a self driving car has taken the life of a pedestrian. In Arizona, a self driving Uber car killed a woman attempting to cross the street.

Now, let me be clear. I am not a Luddite. I realize the irony of using a blog to rail against self-driving cars. It is not technology itself that is the problem, but it is the purpose behind its implementation. What we should consider is that the factor of corporate greed that played a role in taking this person’s life. Just like the shoddy built bridge that collapsed last week, deregulation and the maximization of profit at all costs kills.  If you look at the foundation of Uber, it came from the weakening of labor laws. Not being satisfied in destroying the base of unionized cab drivers, Uber pushed further into testing self driving cars to rid themselves of the necessity of paying a driver at all. The bottom line, is that its about corporate greed versus the safety of people. That is the lense with which people should see this unfortunate occurrence.

Anyone still think that driver less cars are a good idea?
